The Ring Two (2005)

Synopsis:
"Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) have relocated to the quaint mountain town of Asheville, where Rachel has found a new job at the local Asheville Gazette, working alongside reporter Max Rourke (Simon Baker). The discovery of a local teenage homicide whilst scanning the electronic Asheville Police archives prompts Rachel to uncover the truth behind it. Before long, Rachel has linked the homicide to the mysterious video tape. Just when Rachel is within reach of uncovering the secret, she discovers that Aidan has been hospitalized - unconcious, perilously cold, and bruised. Rachel suspects this is the act of Samara Morgan, but Dr Emma Temple suspects otherwise. Having being blamed for child abuse and looking guilty as sin, Rachel returns to Seattle, to dig deeper into the past of the ghostly Samara. Will the secrets she uncovers solve problems, or will they end more lives?"

Disc Details
Disc Type: DVD, Region 2
Release: 29 August 2005
Country: United Kingdom
No. of Discs: 1
Certificate: 15

Special Features
'Rings' short film, The Haunting of The Ring Two, HBO First Look: The Making of The Ring Two, Samara: From Eye To Icon, Imagination In Focus, Deleted and Alternative Scenes.

Hideo Nakata's 'remake' of his own popular Japanese horror movie makes it to Region 2 DVD with a few extras, but as with the first films DVD release, you get the feeling that Dreamworks are holding back on the real extras for a special edition.

The various extras amount to probably less than 30 minutes worth of flashy making of type features, all intercut with the trailer and the same behind the scenes footage with sounbytes from the key cast and crew.

The best thing on the DVD has to be Jonathan Liebesman's excellent short film 'Rings', which is better than the main attraction.

OVERALL SUMMARY
There are more extras here than we got on the original release of 'The Ring' DVD, but any fan worth their salt will have already seen it all or read all about it, so it's absolutely nothing new or special.
