Robert Englund stars as Sheriff Berger in this modest repeat of Wes Craven’s 1989 film Shocker, which sees a serial killer electrocuted, only to return and start stalking the patients in a hospital as a storm hits. As the patients discover a pile of bodies, they have to contend with serious injuries whilst trying to fight back and plan their escape.
Heartstopper starts well, and ends well enough, but hits a lull in the middle stages that makes the overall film a tad dull. It looks good and has solid effects work throughout, not to mention a likeable cast but it’s a few of the characters and the story that ultimately let it down.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Perhaps the remarkable similarities between this and Shocker had a negative effect, or perhaps I’ve just seen too many boring low budget horror movies lately, but this wasn’t as good as I had hoped. Don’t get me wrong it’s an enjoyable enough timewaster but it lacks thrills and chills.
