I finally managed to see this 80’s ‘classic’ which is one of few horror movies still on my ‘to see’ list, and I was slightly disappointed by it.
A bland cast heads into the forest for a camping trip after one of their number acquires some land after a relative dies. The group receives an obligatory warning from a Forrest Ranger in the form of George Kennedy before they disobey him and end up dying at the hands of a hillbilly clan in some really boring ways.
The DVD transfer was the shoddiest I had ever seen, having been quite obviously taken from a REALLY old and worn VHS copy with colours and sound all to hell, which did nothing to enhance my viewing pleasure.
In the end, I was left waiting only for the infamous fist down his throat climax which was ‘so-so’ at best.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Had I seen this in the 80’s I probably would have loved it, but seeing it not long after Director Jeff Lieberman’s latest movie Satan’s Little Helper made it all too much of a bland retread for my liking.
