Plot Summary:
"Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) just can't catch a break. In high school, she was stalked by a serial killer who killed her friends and made a complete ass of himself. In college, she was desired by a lecherous ghost who couldn't keep his hands off the other ladies. And as a young reporter, she's had to protect her nephew from a killer little girl who kills people through a videotape while warning the world about crop circles and aliens. Now, after her divorce from George Logan (Simon Rex) she's been asked to be a caretaker for the creepy "Grudge House." Her next door neighbor, Tom Ryan (Craig Bierko), is a single father with quite a few screws loose. As their love blossoms, the world comes under attack by gigantic tr-iPods that destroy everything in their sight. Tom flees with his kids, leaving Cindy alone with her best friend, Brenda (Regina Hall),who keeps coming back from the dead. Together, they come across a mysterious village that seems to be a hundred years behind modern times. And it is in this time that a mysterious serial killer comes into the spotlight. A serial killer who plans to make examples of the useless lives of Dr. Phil and Shaquille O'Neal."

This fourth, and might I add totally unnecessary sequel to an already wavering franchise, should never have been made after the pretty bad third entry, yet the greedy filmmakers went ahead and the end product is the worst film I have seen in a theatre this year by a long shot.

The main plot threads of The Grudge and The War of the Worlds are woven together and infused with The Village and Saw to provide us with a few smiles....not even chuckles.

The only reason to see these movies is Anna Faris and Regina Hall and even they are given precious little time to shine here, with Brenda appearing as a mere imitation of her former self, it's so bad that it totally ruined the movie for me.

They did a great job with the set design and that's about the only redeeming quality here.

OVERALL SUMMARY
It has back to back sequences crammed full of familiar faces (can we say fulfilling contract obligations) but none of them managing to turn a vague smile into a full belly laugh. What shocked me the most about the whole fiasco was the fact that the majority of main stream critics have given this positive reviews.
