This fourth, and might I add totally unnecessary sequel to an already wavering franchise, should never have been made after the pretty bad third entry, yet the greedy filmmakers went ahead and the end product is the worst film I have seen in a theatre this year by a long shot.
The main plot threads of The Grudge and The War of the Worlds are woven together and infused with The Village and Saw to provide us with a few smiles….not even chuckles.
The only reason to see these movies is Anna Faris and Regina Hall and even they are given precious little time to shine here, with Brenda appearing as a mere imitation of her former self, it’s so bad that it totally ruined the movie for me.
They did a great job with the set design and that’s about the only redeeming quality here.
OVERALL SUMMARY
It has back to back sequences crammed full of familiar faces (can we say fulfilling contract obligations) but none of them managing to turn a vague smile into a full belly laugh. What shocked me the most about the whole fiasco was the fact that the majority of main stream critics have given this positive reviews.
