Exactly two years ago this weekend, audiences in the UK and the US went mad for Michael Keaton’s spooky EVP flick White Noise. Suddenly, and as if from nowhere, the second film has hit cinemas in the UK.

White Noise: The Light, stars Nathan Fillion as Abe Dale, a man who commits suicide after witnessing the murder of his wife and child. Abe is saved by doctors but soon discovers that he has become a channel for the dead. He can hear their messages and he begins to see a glowing light around anyone who is about to die. Struggling to find a reason for his existence, Abe begins attempting to save anyone shrouded in the light, but his new gift comes with a heavy burden.

The film will most likely please fans and haters of the original, as it is a far more entertaining film. The cast, particularly Fillion and Katee Sackhoff are both incredibly warm and likeable, adding humour and compassion to their roles, and the supporting cast are all great as well. The story is more engaging, has more meat on its bones and wraps everything up pretty nicely too (something which the first film didn’t do so well) but by far the biggest plus is an abundance of action. There’s definitely a hint of Final Destination in this one as Abe tries to save people from horrible deaths, only to set off a chain of events which may turn out to be worse.

OVERALL SUMMARY
White Noise: The Light, is very well made with beautiful effects work, gorgeous locations, a great and likeable cast and a very interesting story. It also has bucket loads of action, more scares than the first film and some blood too. In all, it’s a great start to a year which promises some very interesting genre treats.
