Virginie Ledoyen stars as a cleaner sent to work at an orphanage which is set to close, only to encounter some ‘scary children’ in what has to be one of the most puzzling movies I have ever seen.
The film starts out well enough if a little routine, but quickly develops into melodrama and then weird scary territory full of stuff that I was confused about.
Sure it looks beautiful, but I expect no less from the team behind Brotherhood of the Wolf and the forthcoming Silent Hill.
The thick French accents make it hard to understand what is going on at times, and it’s the usual mix of things that go bump in the night meets suspicious characters.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Absolutely nothing new is added to the genre here, and that’s fine. I just wish it had at least managed to meet all the requirements needed to make it a decent attempt at filmmaking.
