Soul Searcher is a British Sci-fi film with a distinctly darker gothic undercurrent that follows street sweeper Joe Fallow on his journey from obscurity to empowerment when he discovers his true destiny.
Director Neil Oseman certainly got his money’s worth with this technically impressive effort. Obviously inspired by Highlander, Razor Blade Smile (and the work of Jake West in general) and many other genre films of the same ilk (I get the feeling that the director’s a sci-fi geek), Soul Searcher features impressive action sequences, costumes and props to rival big budget movies and even some really good acting from an unknown cast.
The film is aesthetically pleasing, well lit and photographed and even has some pretty good CGI effects work considering the budget, although I could have done without that one poorly realized banshee effect, and all in all is a genuinely enjoyable film to watch.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Soul Searcher may not appeal to many of you on first notice but I urge fans of low budget films, sci-fi, fantasy and all things dark to check this out, it really is an impressive film.
