FX genius Robert Kurtzman returns to the director’s chair for this awesome B-movie about a group of college kids lead by bitchy Rene and her cousin Zane who head to a remote country house owned by their family to begin hazing rituals, only to be terrorised by the malevolent spirit of an ancestor who was buried alive on the property.
The film looks amazing for starters and despite having a no name cast (apart from Tobin Bell of Saw infamy) is enjoyable from start to finish with both bitchy and sympathetic characters.
The gore sequences are surprising and shocking thanks to first-rate special effects (one would expect no less in a movie directed by one of the K.N.B team) and the villain is creepy too.
The soundtrack by lead actor Terence Jay is also surprisingly enjoyable.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Buried Alive is a brilliant B-movie with lots of gore, nudity and neat ideas; it also has a very eerie vibe to it and manages to leave us with a very surprising and refreshing finale.
