Lucy Lawless stars as Maddy Rierdon in this sequel to Locusts. This time Maddy finds herself caught up in a murder investigation, when two of her students are thought to have murdered their friend after a rave. Knowing that the kids would never be capable of such a thing, Maddy joins the investigation and is shocked to realise that the victim was killed by the titular beasties.
Maddy teams up with a group of her students to capture and kill the bats before anyone else falls prey to their unusually voracious appetite.
The film has a great cast (including The Hills Have Eyes 2 hotty Jessica Stroup), looks gorgeous, and plays at a fast pace remaining enjoyable throughout.
The effects work is also of a very high standard for a TV movie, with the vampire bats looking particularly creepy.
OVERALL SUMMARY
It does get cheesy in places particularly the finale, but it’s a pleasantly enjoyable little film.
