Plot Summary:
"Long ago in the Iron Age a shadow loomed over a lonely village. For generations the village youths are stolen from their families and delivered as sacrifice to a mythical beast - the Minotaur, that dwells beneath a great palace. Theo, haunted by the loss of his love in an earlier sacrifice is convinced that the beast isn't real and that his girl still lives as a slave within the palace. His father Cyrnan, the village leader, tries to reason with Theo not to go but Theo is driven by blind rage. He devises a plan and is taken with the other youths who are dragged screaming from their families."

Tom Hardy and Tony Todd star in this horror film based on the Greek myth of the Minotaur, and itís surprisingly enjoyable.

Every few years, a village is raided and seven youngsters are taken as sacrifices for the Minotaur. Theo (Hardy) is informed that his lover who was taken previously is still alive so concocts a plan to switch places with one of the sacrifices and heads off in search of his beloved Ffion. Cue Jason and the Argonauts style stuff with Tony Todd as a leather clad baddie.

This was surprisingly refreshing to watch, as gone are the days of Jason and the Argonauts type fantasy adventure films. It has a good international cast, excellent set design and costumes, a great monster and some very gory and shocking deaths.

OVERALL SUMMARY
The film looks good and moves at a pretty fast pace so youíre never bored. I would recommend this for rental. You may be pleasantly surprised (as I was).
