Steel Trap at face value may seem like an intriguing thriller, yet it’s actually a preposterous, badly written, highly implausible gore flick.
The premise sees a group of despicable media types at a new year’s eve party in a high-rise office building, invited to a secret secondary party on another floor. Once the guests arrive, they soon discover that they are trapped and their host is out for blood.
The film is aesthetically pleasing, has some good gore sequences and keeps you guessing as to who the masked killer is until the end, but it’s the ending that ruins the proceedings. This is just another niggling aspect of the silly script, which is akin to that of an Uwe Boll film with foreign screenwriters trying to construct American phrases for a largely British cast, which makes both the dialogue and delivery cringe worthy.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Steel Trap isn’t the worst film I’ve ever seen but it’s incredibly cheesy.
