The new poster is minimalist and simply features its leading lady Elizabeth Olsen ('Martha Marcy May Marlene') and highlights the fact that the movie is shown in 88 minutes of real time. The American redo is based on the recent Uruguayan horror flick 'The Silent House' (AKA 'La Casa Muda'). So let the silence kill you when it arrives in theatres across the US from 9 March 2012. Check out the new official one-sheet below....

Red Riding Hoods Shiloh Fernandez Cast as Male Lead in The Evil Dead Reboot

'Red Riding Hood' star Shiloh Fernandez has been lucky enough to land the Ash-like role in the Ghost House and Mandate Pictures' reboot of Sam Raimi's cult 80's horror flick 'The Evil Dead'. Fernandez (below) will play David, which we have got to assume will be based 'roughly' on the role famously portrayed by Bruce Campbell in the original 'Evil Dead' trilogy. Both David and his sister Mia, who was originally set to be played by Lily Collins ('Priest') - but since pulled out of the project, are the main focus of the feature redo. The script was penned by Rodo Sayagues and director Alvarez along with some re-writes by 'Juno' scribe Diablo Cody and will kick off its shoot next month in New Zealand. The competent minds of Raimi, Campbell and Robert Tapert will all still be involved in the project in a producing capacity...which is a slight relief....

Saw Creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell Re-Teaming for Insidious 2

Having loved the original I am more than pleased to report that James Wan and Leigh Whannell will be bringing us a sequel to supernatural chiller 'Insidious'. The Aussie duo already responsible for bringing us 'Saw', the most succesful horror franchise of all time, are teaming up once again to pen the follow-up which we're sure will be intelligently conceived and if Wan returns to the director's chair will hopefully be expertly executed. A few months back the domain name Insidious2movie.com was snapped up leading to rumours of a potential sequel but its finally been confirmed and we can all set our horror watches to 'excited'. No word on whether actors from the original, such as Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, will return and it's all tight-lipped (as expected) on actualy plot ideas at this stage. FilmDistrict will distribute in the US, whilst Alliance will release in Canada, Spain and here in the UK. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will handle all remaining territories. Check out what Whannell had to say about returning to the franchise below....

Supernatural Thrills and Creepy Dolls in New Clip from ABCs The River

Kicking off next Tuesday is ABC's new docu-horror 'The River'. And to help get those hairs firmly sticking up on the backs of your necks already comes another new clip from the upcoming pilot episode, directed by 'Orphan' helmer Jaume Collet-Serra. 'The River' is the brainchild of creator Oren Peli who is hoping to bring a unique 'found footage' style to the small screen much like he did for his debut feature 'Paranormal Activity' back in 2007 which subtley redefined the sub-genre and has been ridiculously imitated since with particularly shoddy counterparts. Joe Anderson ('The Crazies'), Bruce Greenwood, Eloise Mumford ('Lone Star'), Paul Blackthorne, Daniel Zacapa, Thomas Kretschmann, Shaun Parkes, Bruce Dern and Leslie Hope all star in the new series. Check out the new clip below. 'The River follows the story of wildlife expert and TV personality Emmet Cole. Emmet set course around the world with his wife, Tess, and son, Lincoln, while filming what would become one of the most popular shows in television. After he goes missing deep in the Amazon, his family, friends and crew set out on a mysterious and deadly journey to find him....

Katherine Hiegl Isnt So Good With Faces in New Horror Thriller Face Blind

The delightful 'Grey's Anatomy' star Katherine Heigl is lining up a new prosopagnosian thriller. Hottie Heigl -below ('Valentine', 'Knocked Up') will star and produce 'Face Blind'. Prosopagnosia (AKA face blindness), of course, is a brain disorder relating to face perception which means the sufferer cannot remember people's faces. Heigl will play a psychologist who is stalked by a man who also did the same to one of her patients but struggles to remember his face, obviously. It's sadly not as fresh as it sounds as most of you may recall Julien Magnat's 'Faces in the Crowd' crime thriller from last year starring Milla Jovovich - which is almost a carbon plot to this one. So my question is, why? The hunt is on for a suitable director at a loose end...

Girl With the Dragon Tattoos Rooney Mara to Suffer Soderberghs Side Effects

Steven Soderbergh's ('Contagion') next thriller project comes in the form of 'Side Effects'. The story, penned by Scott Z. Burns, focuses on the character Emily Hawkins a 'sexy but unsettled' girl who whilst anxious about her husband's impending prison release dopes herself up on prescription drugs. 'Gossip Girl's Blake Lively was originally set for the role but has in fact been dropped and has been replaced by 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' star Rooney Mara (below). Mara has become quite the bankable actress of late due to her performance as Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's 'Dragon' remake. She'll join Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jude Law and Channing Tatum. 'Side Effects' shouldn't be confused with Ti West's ('The Innkeepers') new sci-fi thriller 'The Side Effect' starring Liv Tyler - but we're sure this'll get renamed at some point so there's no no confusion....
