Max Brooks Discusses His New Horror Epic 'The Extinction Parade'

Max Brooks, writer of World War Z, which graced the silver screen with none other than Brad Pitt, meets Horror Asylum in central London to talk about “Extinction Parade: War” a comic book series based on Brooks’ 2011 short story. He mentions that he was inspired by the 1981 UK dystopian horror classic “Threads” and is clearly a fan of UK horror: when Horror Asylum mentions recent TV series “I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse” he sounds interested.

Horror Movies-Turned-Video Games That You Need to Play!

Horror fans and gamers are similar breeds. Sitting down enjoying some snacks and a frosty one, getting hooked on fictional worlds and losing themselves to the plot and characters, it comes as no surprise that the two tribes often overlap. Although games based on horror films are never particularly good- or any game based on a film, to be more precise- there have been a few instances in which games have taken the lore and atmosphere of horror movies, transforming a static experience into an interactive one! Here are some of our favourites.

The Top Signs That You’re Possessed

There are a number of things you should watch out for in the early stages of demonic possession. A crucifix, circle of salt and a Ouija board can only go so far in order to assist your apparent possession. But like any other ‘disease’ it’s the case of knowing what signs to look out for before it takes over completely. To find out more of these so-called symptoms make sure you pick up a copy of ‘Grace: The Possession’, which is now available on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The Monster Mash: A Quick Guide to Modern Creature Features

Long gone are the days of the classic Hollywood monsters. The most iconic figures in horror, such as Dracula, the Wolfman and Frankenstein’s monster, will always be fondly remembered for years to come. In fact in this past year alone we’ve already seen vampiristic origin story ‘Dracula Untold’ and the comic-book based action fantasy ‘I, Frankenstein’ all dealing with these traditional beasts. So there will always be rehashes, re-imaginings and different directions for the classics. But due to the ever-changing climate that we live in it seems that the styles, the demands and of course the monsters themselves have evolved.

EXORCISM MOVIES: THE OBSESSION WITH POSSESSION

Posted: 20 January, 2015 at 17:34 PM GMT
Exorcism Movies: The Obsession with Possession

One of the most popular genres of horror, and one that has been literally terrifying generations of movie goers for years now, is the Exorcism movie. Possession itself is a massive part of horror even as it often occurs in films that we tend to forget about being directly associated with ‘possession’. Classic horrors such as ‘The Shining’, ‘Evil Dead’ and even ‘Paranormal Activity’ all feature possessions from unseen ghostly or demonic forces but can never truly be pigeon-holed into the exorcism genre. There’s a definite religious requirement and a few clichés you definitely need to slip in there to warrant the official label. With the arrival of writer/director Jeff Chan’s new chilling horror ‘Grace: The Possession’, which is now available on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, we decided to take a look at just a mere sample of some of the other impressive horrors that fall into this popular category.
