UK cinema goers will be able to enjoy the full force of Franck Khalfoun’s highly praised ‘Maniac’ remake next week when it opens in theatres across the country. And now IFC have finally unveiled its US release plans. The flick, which sees Elijah Wood go scalping unsuspecting victims, will open as a limited theatrical release across the US on 21 June. It’ll also simultaneously land on VOD the same day. Khalfoun directs from a script penned by Alexandre Aja (‘Piranha 3D’) and Gregory Levasseur. Nora Arnezeder (‘Safe House’), America Olivo (‘Bitch Slap’, ‘No One Lives’), Genevieve Alexandra and Liane Balaban also star. Look out for our recent interview with director Khalfoun which will be posted up later today.
“Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.”
‘Maniac’ hits UK theatres on Friday 15 March.
