Following on from the release of the new one-sheet for Neill Blomkamp’s exciting ‘Elysium’ comes a fresh first look trailer from the sci-fi feature courtesy of TriStar Pictures and Media Rights Capital. The new trailer certainly ups the scale of the whole event moreso than we had ever imagined it to be but what with Joseph Kosinski’s ‘Oblivion’ hitting theatres this month and M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘After Earth’ eyeing a June opening the post-Earth humanity struggle yarn may be wearing thin come this Summer when ‘Elysium’ finally lands. It stars Matt Damon (‘Contagion’) and Jodie Foster (‘Silence of the Lambs), Sharlto Copley (‘District 9’), William Fichtner (‘Drive Angry’), Michael Shanks (‘Saving Hope’), Alice Braga (‘I Am Legend’), Diego Luna, Talisa Soto and Carly Pope. Check the trailer as well as the new one-sheet below.
“In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.”
‘Elysium’ arrives in the US on 9 August and here in UK theatres from 20 September.
