Reliance Entertainment and IM Global have announced that ‘Modern Family’ star Sarah Hyland has joined the cast of the new ‘Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters’ adaptation. The Mark Waters (‘Mean Girls’) helmed project is based on the series of Richelle Mead’s young adult books and will be slipping right into that ‘Twilight’ shaped gap in the market. Hyland (below), who plays Haley Dunphy in the multli-award winning ABC comedy series ‘Modern Family’ and always reminds us of a young Mila Kunis, is set to play the role of Natalie, the best friend of the lead Rose and Lissa characters who’ll be played by Zoey Deutch (‘Beautiful Creatures’) and Aussie actress Lucy Fry (‘Lightning Point’) respectively. Joely Richardson (‘Event Horizon’), Gabriel Byrne (‘Ghost Ship’) and Dominic Sherwood have also jumped on board the production. ‘Oblivion’ star Olga Kurylenko also stars as the school headmistress.
“The tale of Rose Hathaway, a 17-year-old girl who has a mental and spiritual bond with her vampire best friend Lissa. The two girls attend a special school for Vampires who struggle to retain some humanity while other Vampires become more feral.”
Shooting begins this week and ‘Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters’ is set for release on 14 February 2014.
