If the latest feature from British director Ben Wheatley (‘Sightseers’, ‘Kill List’) wasn’t enough to get you excited then we’re certain this first trailer from his new project ‘A Field of England’ won’t disappoint. The shroom induced feature that is being described as “a psychedelic trip into magic and madness” was written by Wheatley along with ‘Kill List’ co-scribe Amy Jump. The action takes place during the English Civil War and the trailer itself is as intriguing as the movies’ concept. The film itself will also be receiving a landmark release here in the UK by arriving in theatres, on DVD, on TV and VOD all simultaneously on the same day – Friday 5 July to be exact. Julian Barratt (‘The Mighty Boosh’), Reece Shearsmith (‘The League of Gentlemen’, ‘The Cottage’), Peter Ferdinando, Ryan Pope, Richard Glover and Michael Smiley (‘Spaced’) all star in the flick. Check out the trailer below.
“In the war-torn English countryside in 1648, a small group of deserters flee the raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured and forced to help one of their captors in his search to find hidden treasure he believes is buried in the field. The group descends into a chaos of arguments, fighting, and paranoia, and as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they gradually become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.”
‘A Field in England’ will arrive in US theatres and on VOD later this year courtesy of Drafthouse Films.
