‘Rachel Getting Married’ and ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’ star Rosemarie DeWitt (below) has signed up for the female lead role in Fox 2000 Pictures and MGM’s remake of classic horror yarn ‘Poltergeist’. ‘Monster House’ director Gil Kenan is already prepping production ready for his directorial duties which will include shooting from a script penned by that of David Lindsay-Abaire (‘Oz The Great and Powerful’). DeWitt is set to play Amy Bowen the part which we assume will be based around the role of Diane Freeling from the 1982 original who was portrayed by JoBeth Williams. ‘Evil Dead’s Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are also on board to produce the project.
“Poltergeist follows Eric Bowen and his family, who, after he loses his job, relocate to a new town to start over. His daughter, Madison, is abducted, making him truly understand what’s important in life: family. When his daughter goes missing they call in a TV celebrity, Carrigan Burke, who hosts ‘Haunted House Cleaners’ and his parapsychologist ex-wife Dr. Brooke Powell to investigate.”
