VAMPIRELLA BACK TO BASICS
At the inception of Harris Comics’ revamping of Vampirella back in 2001, someone made the right call to reprint the first issue of the magazine-format Vampirella series (lifespan: 1969 – 1983) so all of us poor schmucks don’t have to shell out some hard earned bones for the original printing. As a fan, I often wondered why the magazine tradition was scrapped in the first place. Trivializing such things is a moot issue now because this October Harris will be returning to the classic format with the Vampirella Comics Magazine.
A merger of old and new ideals, Magazine will showcase 48 pages of anthology storytelling featuring our favorite raven-haired bloodsucker. Color and black & white tales from various talents in the biz will formulate the meat of each issue, but for you horny bastards out there a model gallery will also be included. (Kitana Baker, lordy lordy, will don the red straps for issue one – she’s renown as taking part in the Miller Lite catfight commercials.) Mark Texeira will be lending cover art for the debut.
