SyFy have announced the selected subtitle for its planned 'Sharknado' sequel. A few weeks back the channel was asking its Twitter followers to come up with a suitable title to be tagged onto the end of its follow-up 'Sharknado 2'. And here it is...after 1000's of entries the winner is 'Sharknado 2: The Second One'. The new titles is somewhat fitting to the project which has a particularly 'thrifty' feel to it already. The contest was thrown out on the social network according to SyFy Original Movies VP Thomas Vitale as a nod and thank you to all the tweeting action that occurred around the first installment that made it a hugely talked about project...notable for all the wrong reasons. And making statements such as "Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon" and "keeping up the shark-mentum" makes me cringe to my very soul. SyFy and The Asylum's 'Sharknado 2: The Second One' will shoot in New York and arrive on the SyFy channel at some point in July 2014.
"In Sharknado, regulars of a beachside bar including owner Fin (Ian Ziering), bartender Nova (Cassie Scerbo) and local drunk George (John Heard/Home Alone) team up with Finís ex-wife April (Tara Reid) to investigate the ecological nightmare that has sharks swimming through the streets of Los Angeles and falling from the skies."
