Just when you thought Jigsaw was down and out it appears that Lionsgate are looking to revive their successful ‘Saw’ franchise. Bloody Disgusting are reporting that the studio are “incredibly active in developing an eighth Saw”. Now whilst this may come as surprising and unwanted news to many out there I happen to think an equal portion of fans will be extremely pleased to hear that a potential new chapter in the series could be coming our way. The ‘Saw’ franchise, from creators Leigh Whannell (‘Insidious Chapter Two’) and James Wan (‘The Conjuring’), ended its run back in 2010 with ‘Saw 3D’ neatly concluding the series. So just how the series will reopen itself is still yet unknown.
I for one miss the regular Halloween release of each chapter and whilst some are better than others at least the entire series had a consistent quality to it. And let’s not forget it did become the most successful horror franchise of all time!
