The Weinstein Company along with filmmaker Frank Darabont are reportedly developing a new 10 part TV show based on Darabont’s 2007 creature feature adaptation ‘The Mist’. Darabont, who previously helped bring AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ to the small screen, will be developing the movie which was based on the original story by horror author Stephen King. No actual details about the plot have yet been revealed but most of the events that revolved around the group of survivors holding up in a local supermarket were thorougly covered in the movie so should we expect to follow survivors elsewhere? Most likely yes. The movie starred Thomas Jane (‘The Punisher’) and Laurie Holden (‘Silent Hill’).
Here’s how Darabont’s 2007 feature version went:
“Following a violent thunderstorm, artist David Drayton and a small town community come under vicious attack from creatures prowling in a thick and unnatural mist. Local rumors point to an experiment called the ‘The Arrowhead Project’ conducted at a nearby top-secret military base, but questions as to the origins of the deadly vapor are secondary to the group’s overall chances for survival.”
