Kicking off an array of huge sci-fi based action movies heading our way next Summer is Doug Liman’s ‘Edge of Tomorrow’. The movie is based on the novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka which co-writers Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie, and Joby Harold have adapted for the big screen and USA Today have posted some new images from the project. The new pics feature stars Tom Cruise (‘Jack Reacher’) and a splendidly sweaty Emily Blunt (‘Looper’). Along with the pics Cruise discussed wearing his suit on the production claiming “One of the suits with the angel wings had a sniper rifle and missile launcher on my back and weighed about 130 pounds. I’m having to sprint in it…It’s physically grueling.” ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ also stars Bill Paxton (‘Aliens’), Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh and Dragomir Mrsic. Head below to check out the new images.
“The epic action of Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.”
‘Edge of Tomorrow’ opens in theatres on 6 June 2014.
