NBC have ordered a pilot based on the original ‘Hellblazer’ graphic novels. The Constantine based pilot will focus on John Constantine, an occult detective, who we first saw adapted back in 2005 for Francis Lawrence’s feature movie which starred Keanu Reeves in the title role. The Hollywood Reporter has bought news that David S. Goyer (‘Batman Begins’) and Daniel Cerone (‘The Mentalist’) are set to executive produce the episode as well as co-write the pilot together. With horror, fantasy and comic book action high on the agenda for TV studios these days there’s no harm in trying to re-adapt some older material that didn’t quite work on the big screen. Hopefully something like this will find more success with a TV audience.
“The Constantine series centers on master of the occult John Constantine, who is struggling with his faith as he is haunted by the sins of his past but is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.”
