Lionsgate is right on the cusp of picking up the North American rights to Jonathan Millott and Cary Murnion’s feature debut ‘Cooties’. The comedy horror which stars Elijah Wood (‘Maniac’) who also serves as producer through his production company SpectreVision is being pushed out at this year’s Sundance Film Festival along with several other horror projects. ‘Cooties’ was penned by Ian Brennan and ‘Insidious’ scribe Leigh Whannell which no doubt caught the eye of Lionsgate when a decade ago they acquired both Whannell and James Wan’s ‘Saw’ and went on to become the biggest horror franchise to date. Rainn Wilson (‘The Office’), Alison Pill (‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’), Jack McBrayer (’30 Rock’), Nasim Pedrad and Whannell himself all co-star in the movie.
