Lifetime are preparing a new horror series based on Richard Donner’s 1976 classic ‘The Omen’. The show entitled ‘Damien’ will focus on the adult Damien who will serve as the main protagonist as he comes to grips with his “demonic destiny”. ‘The Walking Dead’s ex-showrunner Glen Mazarra will serve as an executive producer as well as writing the show. ‘The Omen’ was followed up in 1978 and then in 1981 with ‘Damien: Omen II’ and ‘Omen III: The Final Conflict’ respectively with Sam Neill (‘Jurassic Park’) taking the role of the grown up Damien Thorn in the third entry. It wasn’t until 1991 that a ‘Omen IV: The Awakening’ was released as a TV movie moving the demonic focus from the now dead Damien to a young girl instead. We assume the action from the new series will take place somewhere in between the two unless it’ll be taking a more contemporary ‘Bates Motel’-like route.
