Following some successful box office numbers as well as a number of positive reviews and comments for Gareth Edwards’ ‘Godzilla’ reboot it didn’t exactly shock many to hear that ‘Godzilla 2’ was being pushed through for development earlier this week. Of course by now most of you have probably heard the amazing news that director Edwards has landed himself the job of helming one of the new ‘Star Wars’ spinoff films for Disney and Lucasfilm. The movie has a release date set for 16 December 2016 and obviously means that he’ll need some time before he even starts thinking about a follow-up to ‘Godzilla’. But the talented British director will most definitely be back and is officially attached to direct both a ‘Godzilla 2’ and 3.
It’s early days and whilst some story ideas are in mind the ‘Godzilla’ sequel still remains in early development. Legendary Entertainment have confirmed that is was always the plan for Edwards to tackle another project before he continued with the revived monster franchise and he certainly hasn’t picked an easy one. Good luck Gareth!
