Guillermo del Toro (‘Pacific Rim’) and Carlton Cuse’s (‘Lost’) hip new horror series ‘The Strain’ has certainly made its mark during its first season. Not only has it just scored a 13-episode second season thanks to FX but Fox Home Entertainment will also unloading the first season onto both DVD and Blu-ray on 2 December. It became the networks most-watched series premiere in its history and has been received much praise ever since. Its currently airing on Sundays at 10:00pm ET/PT with 7 episodes still to run. The second season is scheduled to premiere sometime during the Summer of 2015. The show stars Corey Stoll (‘House of Cards’), Sean Astin (‘Cabin Fever 3’), Kevin Durand (‘Lost’), Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde (‘The Mummy’), Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, Miguel Gomez and Mia Maestro.
“The series tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.”
Cuse said, “It’s been immensely satisfying over the last year-and-a-half to work with the incredible team at FX, Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan to bring The Strain to life. I am grateful for all the blood, sweat and tears (but mostly blood) given to the project by all involved, and I could not be more excited to continue telling this epic story.”
