Night of the Beast Book
Medium Rare Books has announced the release of ‘Night of the Beast, the first novel by horror and noir author Harry Shannon. The book has received advance praise from William F. Nolan, Ed Gorman, Graham Masterton, Owl Goingback, Tim Lebbon, Brian Keene and other genre stalwarts.
‘Night of the Beast’ is a multi-character, complex book and quite unusual in a way,’ says publisher John Turi. ‘It was written partly as an homage to the ‘horror fiction’ boom of the 1980’s, and that’s what makes it so much fun. It is dark, Technicolor pulp devised by the mind of a literate and truly gifted storyteller. At once a tribute to the past and highly original, ‘Night of the Beast’ is a loud, reckless, relentless, black-humored and ultimately very satisfying piece of entertainment.’
The prolific Harry Shannon has also recently contributed a novella to the Cemetery Dance anthology ‘Brimstone Turnpike’ and short fiction to the collections ‘Fresh Blood,’ ‘Fear’ and ‘The Night Has Teeth.’ His first limited edition horror and noir collection ‘Bad Seed (2nd Edition)’ came out in 2001 and immediately received numerous HWA ‘Stoker Award’ recommendations; the story ‘Quickie’ made the preliminary ballot in short fiction. Harry Shannon has been an actor, a singer, an Emmy-nominated songwriter, a recording artist in Europe, a music publisher, a film studio executive and worked as a free-lance music supervisor on films such as ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘Universal Soldier.’ He is currently a counselor in private practice. His short fiction has appeared in magazines such as Blue Murder, Terror Tales, Alternate Realities, Rogue Worlds, Futures, Shadowkeep and Crime Stalker Casebook.
