British star Lena Headey (‘Game of Thrones’) and Charles Dance (also ‘Game of Thrones’) are the latest to sign up for twisted Jane Austen adaptation ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’. The horror themed period mash-up based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith has been picked up for US distribution by Screen Gems. It’s been a long time coming and the projects been through all sorts of development but thankfully with Burr Steers (‘Igby Goes Down’) at the helm and an impressive cast setup the production should now be moving forward with some gusto. Headey (below) and Dance join Lily James (‘Downton Abbey’), Sam Riley, Bella Heathcote (‘Dark Shadows’), Jack Huston, Douglas Booth (‘Noah’) and Matt Smith (‘Doctor Who’).
“Opens as a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton-and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers-and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead.”
