WHO’S CREATING THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN?
One of the first things that came to mind when producer Gale Anne Hurd (Tremors, The Hulk) announced she’d be shepherding an Abominable Snowman picture to the big screen was: I wonder who’s going to design the big white beast? And, of course, who’s doing the FX? It looks as if the answer to the latter will come a bit later.
Mark ‘Crash’ McCreery has been hired by Emmett/Furla Films to create the Snowman. The company is co-producing the film with Hurd’s Vallhalla Motion Pictures. Emmett and Furla told Coming Soon: ‘We are excited about Crash’s work and we look forward to bringing this creature to life in a feature film. We believe that the technology available now brings the realization of this creature within our grasp.’
We were first introduced to Crash’s extremely detailed pencil work on Jurassic Park. Since that ’93 blockbuster he’s gone on to work on the sequel, Speilberg’s A.I., and Dreamcatcher. He also received story credit the Stan Winston’s Creature Features installment Earth vs. The Spider.
