Nathan Hill’s latest movie “Revenge of the Gweilo” is an action revenge thriller due out later in the year and currently in post production that has already been accepted into the Boston Film Festival for the teaser trailer alone, that shows promising signs of much bigger things to come. In brief the story centres around an ex-cop whose fiance is brutally murdered by the Asian mafia, leaving our hero Joseph Lucky no choice but to use his personal fighting skills and contacts within the force to bring all those at fault to justice.
The film, described as the Australian version of “Kill Bill”, displays some of the horror elements from Hill’s previous film “Tomboys” and combines them with the style of his previous thriller “Model Behaviour” in which he acted in. The movie has been called the explanation mark of all of Hill’s movies to date and showcases many of his trademarks and signature filmmaking.
The film’s opening title sequence portrays the Chinese New Year Festival in Melbourne, Australia. In reality it will be the first film shot in the State of Victoria to open a full length film in this fashion.
Hill spent one year talent scouting to find all of the A list Asian talent in Melbourne city and cast includes Mary Annegeline from “Neighbours” and Andy McPhee from “Wolf Creek” and the movie has attracted some big names in the electronic music field including Lazerhawk and Robin Ogden for the music composition.
There is already a graphic novel, an Ebook and an action figure line in production to support the distribution of the movie.
