The gaming world continues to thrive and evolve at a startling rate. The technology, the creative ingenuity, the hard work and originality that surrounds the gaming industry is astounding. The choice of games as well as the choice of platforms, devices and manner in which players prefer to game is vast but even with this adundant range of gaming options out there one thing is for sure, horror is still king.

The genre is ever-present no matter is you're playing on a console, online, through your smart device or now even using a virtual reality headset. Horror gaming fans love the thrill and unexpected terror that comes with this unique gaming experience and whilst there are those that simply enjoy the killing, the bloodshed and the general escapism horror games are becoming more and more complex and immersive.

Even this online casino review shows that even gaming and casino lovers enjoy games that include scary horror themes, and that is why we though we would take a look at just some of the scariest and more terrifying games that have arrived or are set to land on shelves in 2017.

Outlast 2

Outlast 2
If you enjoyed the first Outlast, then there's very little doubt you won't get a kick out of playing Outlast 2. And thankfully the good news is that the second version is one heck of a lot scarier than the first. In a bid to further encourage the love that people have for this horrifying game, there was special horror themed underwear released along with the demo game for those who may suffer from an unfortunate accident related to the chills and thrills found in the follow-up.

Armed only with stealth skills and a camcorder investigative journalist Blake Langermann must make his way through the abandoned town of Supai as he tries to uncover the mystery surrounding the murder of a young woman, whilst searching for missing wife.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier
This is another choice game that will certainly give you a few scares for the more fainthearted gamers out there. The story is a continuation of the Walking Dead series with plenty of "walker" action involved. The new TWD experience from Telltale Games was release on the 14th of February 2017 and focuses on the life of a man named Javier who must so all he can to hel protect him and his family from the flesh-hungry hands of the zombies.

Days Gone
Days Gone is a new highly anticipated survival horror game set to arrive in 2017. The game comes from the guys over at SCE Bend Studio, the studio behind the popular stealth shooter series Syphon Filter, and much like the aforementioned Walking Dead: A New Frontier game will focus on a post-apocalyptic zombie experience. The trailer promises plenty of brutal and bloodthirsty zombie action right from the off and PlayStation 4 owners will be glad to hear that the game will take place in an open world environment and will even include a special dynamic day-night cycle that means the flesh-eaters will weaken during the daylight hours and become insanely more powerful and quick at night.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Most entries in the long-running Resident Evil series are always high on the list of highly anticipated game releases and Resident Evil VII was no different. It arrived back in January and took many fans of the series by surprise mostly thanks to its switch from third to first-person perspective. This of course instantly drew a lot of comparisons to other similar series and some experts would even go as far to say that the game itself was borrowing heavily from other popular horror gaming efforts such as Silent Hill.
