For many, horror games are the only genre of horror that brings out any real sense of fear, especially now that many horror movies have seen a real dive in quality in recent years. Itís playing alone in a dark room with nothing but headphones on that make horror games so much scarier than many other forms of media, and although we havenít seen too many truly fantastic horror games hit the scene in some time, 2019 might just change that.

From AAA titles to small indie studios, we can expect a vast range of horror games in the coming year, and even a few sequels that should make many fans happy, and it wonít take much to have to turn off the horror and find something a little more colourful and cheerful, like online pokies NZ.

The Blackout Club

This mystery game, developed and published by Question, focuses around a group of teenagers from a small town that find themselves in the middle of a blackout, waking up in different locations around the town and beset with amnesia.

The teens will need to band together and try to figure out what happened in the town, and how each one of them landed up there. Itís set to be a co-op game that sees players teaming up and trying to figure out the mystery together. While no exact release date has been announced, it has been revealed that the game will be available on PC, Xbox, and PS4.

Someday Youíll Return

Developed and published by CBE Software for PC, Someday Youíll Return is an upcoming psychological horror game that sees the player deep in the woods as they try and find their missing daughter.

The protagonist has promised that he would never return to the woods but sets out to break that promise in search of his daughter. It seems to be a game set around a deep narrative journey, which will present players with a number of mature themes, such as the concept of fatherhood and the past.

Unholy

A rather unique take on the horror genre, Unholy sees the player taking on the role of a mother named Saidah, who is one of the last living humans in the Last City. The city operates with a class system, where humans are bottom of the food chain, while a myriad of creatures rule above them. Saidahís child is abducted, and she must venture out to find it. The gameís gameplay is heavily based in stealth, and often the protagonist will be forced to impersonate the other characters that they come across in order to survive. There are some combat elements present, but it seems as though these become available in more dangerous scenarios. The game is being developed by Duality Games, and will be available on PC.

Layers of Fear 2

The sequel to the popular Layers of Fear, not much information has been released about LoF2, but we do know that the game will have the same overall feel as the first. Available on all platforms, the game will see the player solving puzzles, avoiding danger, and more.
