SENTINEL REMAKE PLANNED

The only logical reason we can derive from remaking the 1977 horror flick The Sentinel is to give some up-and-coming wickedly hot actress a platform to start her career. That's about it. Hollywood's all about beautiful faces these day and, what do you know? The Sentinel is about one ? a fashion model to be exact; one who moves into a architecture lover's wet dream of a New York apartment building only to find out that her new digs houses the gateway to hell.

Universal announced, via the trades, today that they've hired Scott Rosenberg to pen a Sentinel retread. Check out this quote from producer Kevin Misher:

'Scott was walking down a Manhattan street one day and looked up to see a brownstone against a gray sky and thought there hadn't been a New York City-set horror film in a while.'

Why not actually create an original story rather than fall back on an old one? There are still some mysteries of the universe, I suppose. Misher and Rosenberg promise that the essence of the '77 film will reside in this retread and will serve as a 'leaping-off point.' I guess we'll just have to see where they take the material.

Rosenberg stays quite busy in the biz. He penned Disturbing Behavior, Gone in Sixty Seconds, and?Kangaroo Jack.

The original film was directed by Michael Winner and starred Chris Sarandon, Christina Raines, Martin Balsam, and John Carradine.
