SCHWENTKE TAKES ON DEMENTER
After taking on the Jet Li actioner LABOR DAY and the Presidential thriller MAN WITH THE FOOTBALL, many were probably wondering if TATTOO director Robert Schwentke was going to do a horror film in Hollywood any time soon. Well, the Hollywood Reporter is announcing that, yes, in fact he is – Phoenix Pictures’ long-dormant THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER, the new take on the log entries in Bram Stoker’s DRACULA which chronicle the vampire’s crossing from Europe to England. Though the script was written by Bragi Schut, Schwentke and his writing partner Mitch Brian will be teaming up to rewrite the thing before it goes before cameras. If you remember, the log entries in DRACULA start with ‘weird happenings’ going on during the voyage, but then ends with the ship smashing into port with no one alive on board and the captain having lashed himself to the wheel. Could be a good one.
