THE GHOSTS OF GHOST SHIP
At Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors convention, Ghost Ship director Steve Beck was on-hand to field questions from curious fans about his next horror flick. CHUD’s Smilin Jack Ruby was there to take it all in and write up the transcript for the rest of us. Among the many questions asked…
Question: What’s the difference between the ghosts we see in Thirteen Ghosts and the ghosts we see in Ghost Ship?
Steve: In Thirteen Ghosts, because we had so many radically different kinds of ghosts, I mean, we had them from all different eras for example, we were going for more of a stylized statement with those ghosts, so again, we were playing to an audience essentially. In this story, we have one set of ghosts the ghosts that are on this ship and these ghosts are stuck in this limbo, so I wanted to present them as such, not as horrific looking things, but as these passengers, much like the ballroom in The Shining.
