YORK ATTENDING TORONTO
York Entertainment CEO Tanya York announced today the company will attend the 28th Toronto International Film Festival to promote the companys commitment to independent filmmakers and distributors.
York Entertainment has become a one-stop studio for independent filmmakers/distributors with the company acquiring more than 50 feature films every year for domestic release and around 15 films for the international market. Toronto is one of the premiere festivals where there is no shallow end in the talent pool, commented Tanya York, when asked about the companys strategy to meet with filmmakers to discuss acquiring completed films, as well as production opportunities on new projects. The companys in-house production division greenlights 10 pictures a year: Vice President of Production, Scott Pfeiffer said, We are dependent on the independent when discussing why the company looks to finance marketable projects that are focused on creativity and the bottom line.
York Internationals worldwide sales division, helmed by Director of International Sales and industry veteran Gregg Ratinoff since 2002 has further solidified the companys commitment to provide distribution services on a global scale to the independent film world. At a time when many international sales companies are downsizing or disappearing, our division has added staff to keep up with our positive worldwide sales volume, said Ratinoff. Commenting further about the companys performance at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, Ratinoff adds Our international sales division compares to Neiman Marcus in quality, Wal-Mart in volume, except we are a little better than both since we have the ability to sell our products before they hit the shelf, this is in respect to the companys phenomenal ability to pre-sell films in major territories.
York Entertainment considers Toronto an incredible opportunity to see a great deal of high-quality films and projects and is charging forward with its plan to acquire additional feature films for its powerful US and International distribution divisions.
