CRAVEN & ALICE & THE SOCIETY
As a continuing tease for their next issue, Sci Fi Wire released some more details from their talk with Wes Craven today, and this time it’s not about werewolves or pulses, but rather a little girl and some futuristic clones.
Craven said pointblank that the other two projects he was working on for Dimension, namely Alice and the film adaptation of his book The Fountain Society, are ‘all but dead’.
‘[We] never got a script that Dimension liked, so it’s been pushed way back on the back burner.’ He says regarding Alice, which was set to be based on the popular PC game American McGee’s Alice. On the Fountain Society front, he says ‘A large part of it was about the continuing relationship with his wife, who remained old…The studio’s feeling was that that story should be discounted, because the audience wouldn’t be interested. It kind of turned us into a movie that was just basically a chase movie, and we were never really able to get to the point where we were all enthusiastic about it.’
So what’s to become of the director once Cursed is finally done and he is free from Dimension’s claws? Who knows.
