RHODE ISLAND FEST SETS SCHEDULE
Remember when we said that every state seems like its having a genre fest this year? Well, Creature Corner has reported that the Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival has firmed up its slate of fright fare for its fourth annual event, taking place October 23-26. Among the movies showing at the Columbus Theatre, 270 Broadway in Providence (appropriately enough, H.P. Lovecrafts birthplace) are Stuart Gordons KING OF THE ANTS, Terry Wests FLESH FOR THE BEAST, a Japanese double bill of Takashi Miikes ICHI THE KILLER and Higuchinskys UZUMAKI, a new print of MANIAC with director William Lustig in attendance, Lucio Fulcis ZOMBIE and a restored print of Paul Wegener and Carl Boeses classic 1920 silent chiller THE GOLEM, with live musical accompaniment, plus a local filmmakers showcase, a number of RI-produced shorts and a Lovecraft walking tour of the city. Awards will be given for Best Feature and Best Short, and there will also be contests like Best Costume and Best Shriek! Go here for more info.
