DARK CASTLE’S NEXT MOVE?
At this time last year, Dark Castle’s following year film had already been decided on as GHOST SHIP, but this year, producer Joel Silver hasn’t made his mind up yet – though he assures Fango that they won’t ‘skip a year’ Pixar-style.
‘As long as they go, we’re doing them,’ Silver says. ‘We have a picture that we like called GOTHIKA, which is another kind of a ghost movie and then there’s a werewolf movie I like called HOWL that we’re thinking about doing, but it’s comforting knowing that we can make these pictures for a reasonable amount of money and then the studio is happy to have us do them and put them out for Halloween.’
Plans are still afoot for a Silver-produced HOUSE OF WAX remake and yes, Robert Zemeckis is still planning to remake William Castle’s MACABRE, but GOTHIKA – a project about a female shrink who ‘wakes up’ and finds she is a patient in the very nuthouse she works at – was announced in June around the same time as THE REAPING (about a miracle debunker trying to prove a little boy isn’t destroying a small Texas town).
Another potential project is the still-in-development DEATHWATCH, about a group of teens who stumble across a website that predicts the time of their impending death.
