NIGHTINGALE MAY FLY AT UPN
Somewhere in the Hollywood hills there sits an unkempt burial ground for television’s failed ‘supernatural dramas.’ These projects, and the networks that raised them, had hopes of success (equal to that of, say, The X-Files) but they only met with dead ratings and were subsequently buried.
Each year, as a new television season approaches and networks look at their future slate, it never fails: there’s always at least one supernatural drama in development. UPN, as the trades reported today, are polishing their ’04 slate with a sizable two-dozen television scripts in development. Who wants to bet one of them has a spooky twist?
With a title that sounds like a Birds of Prey spin-off, Nightingale centers on a gal who wakes up every morning with no memory of the evil ass-kicking she dolls out on a nightly basis. Oh, let’s not forget to mention that unseen forces guide her. So basically she’s someone who could easily buddy up with Frank Black from Millenium, Tru from Fox’s upcoming Tru Calling, Frank Taylor of Haunted, and that dude from Brimstone.
This upcoming show’s writers and exec producers, Brandon Camp and Mike Thompson, danced with Fox last season for John Doe.
