A NEW LOOK AT CHARLIE
In 1976 CBS decided it was time for America to know more of the truth surrounding the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders by Charles Manson’s ‘family’, and they imparted said knowledge through a two-hour miniseries called ‘Helter Skelter’, based on the novel by prosecuting attorney Vincent Bugliosi of the same name.
To this day it remains one of the networks highest-rated series, so CBS has decided that means it needs to be updated for the 21st Century. A new three hour mini-series. also called ‘Helter Skelter’, is going into production now, with Jeremy Davies in the role as Manson.
Even though it was some of the biggest news at the time, few people today really know what went on on that night in 1969, they just know Manson was insane, killed a lot of people (well, allegedly he had his minions do the killing for him), and will probably never get out of jail because of it.
We’re all curious to see what direction CBS goes for with this. With stars like Bruno Kirby (as Bugliosi) and Clea DuVall (as Tate perhaps?), we get the feeling we’re going to get a lot of gloss.
As of now no airdate has been set.
