UNDERWORLD GOES TO AFRICA
Underworld screenwriter Danny McBride has teamed up with Kris Oprisko, who penned the comic book adaptation of the movie, to co-plot a new three-issue miniseries from IDW called Underworld: Red in Tooth and Claw.
The series is scripted by Oprisko, and reunites him with Nick Postic and Nick Marinkovich (the pair who also illustrated the movie adaptation) and according to the press release issued by IDW Publishing last Friday, the story deals with ‘a long-ago encounter between vampires and werewolves, on the plains of Africa.’
‘Our Underworld movie adaptation was a big hit,’ said IDWs editor-in-chief Jeff Mariotte. ‘People loved that it was a faithful adaptation of the movie, and Nick and Nick really captured the dark, horrific mood. But there is so much history the filmmakers couldn’t fit into one movie that we have a huge canvas to work with, and with the participation of Danny McBride we’re going to fill in some of the gaps in that history.’
Underworld: Red in Tooth and Claw #1 hits comic book stores in February.
