ALL THINGS ROMERO
There had to be some diligent souls out there that were following every move made on the official site for Diamond Dead, the next film zombie master George A. Romero is attached to. They just update the thing too much for fans to not keep an eye on it as much as they can.
This past Sunday an article appeared in the Tribune about all things Romero, in which he discusses some of the older projects he was supposedly behind…
‘The Ill is old news…Who knows what’s going to happen. It’s a script that I rewrote for a small company in New York — a couple of young producers. It’s still kicking around. They seem to think there’s some money for it now.’
So much for the story in Variety reporting it was pretty much ready to go a few months back. But Diamond Dead is the real subject at hand, and he’s got some very encouraging things to say about that…
‘I don’t have any players yet. I really would like Asia Argento, (director) Dario Argento’s daughter. She was in XXX. She’s getting hot because of that. She’s directing a film now (The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things)..Some set designs have been done. There’s some interest at a couple of studios. Andrew Gaty, who is based in Los Angeles, is the producer. I’ve known him for years. He’s an old school guy trying to raise bread here and there. He has a good bit of money from European sources which would allow us to make it without too much interference.’
‘But nothing is real till it’s real. It ain’t soup yet, but it’s a getting pretty close.’
Now when you think undead female singers of rock bands, who fits that description better than Asia?
Check out the whole article right here, in which he also discusses a possible ‘Dracula’ mini-series he’s been working on, and the first really good news about The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon that we’ve seen in years.
