UPDATE ON IRELAND’S DEAD MEAT
Producer Ed King recently dropped in to give the Creature Corner an update on Dead Meat, a project reported here last April. ‘At present, we are in the post production sound stage, adding in all those sound effects, laying down the music tracks and mixing,’ King tells us. Meat, directed and written by Conor McMahon, tells of a zombie infection that sweeps the Irish countryside after a ‘mad cow’ escapes slaughter and spreads its mutated disease. Judging by the screen grabs from the film sent to us (above and below), Meat doesn’t look like a film that shirks on the chunky goodness. Believe it or not, the production was the first to be funded by The Irish Film Board.
‘The shoot itself went very well,’ continues King. ‘It was on time and on budget and the results have made both the financiers – The Irish Film Board, who were great to deal with – and ourselves very happy with the final cut.’
King also informs us that development has already begun on a new project with his involvement, this one’s entitled Chiaroscuro, ‘a sinister slasher/ghost story set amongst four artists staying the night in an old house.’ The title, rooted in Italian (especially during the renaissance period), means ‘light and dark.’
Dead Meat stars Marian Araujo, David Mallard, Eoin Whelan and David Ryan.
