WRITER VISITS AMITYVILLE
In case you got lost in the flurry of Amityville Horror remake news earlier this year, here’s the latest: At the moment MGM and Platinum Dunes/Dimension Films have joined forces to create one Amityville Horror rather than two separate projects as originally intended. Another departure from the ‘original plan’ is that the film will now be released in early ’05 rather than at the end of summer ’04 as previously reported.
A handful of sources have informed the Creature Corner that Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) scribe Scott Kosar is injecting his own twisted sensibilities into a draft of The Amityville Horror right now. From early reports we understand that Dan Farrands’ draft of Amityville was going to be used as a platform (plot-wise) from which MGM/Dunes/Dimension would leap into the remake, however, it’s unknown to what extend Farrands remains involved in the scripting process now.
Kosar is a man movin’ up. He also penned The Machinist, which is making the film festival rounds, and Salem, a tale of witchcraft now residing at Columbia.
We understand that the IMDB lists Kosar as writer on Amityville as well. No director has been attached, Michael Bay will oversee the production as he did Chainsaw.
