CERD?& HUSSAINS SHARED BLOODLINE
Spanish cult director Nacho (AFTERMATH) Cerd?as a new project brewing at Filmax to replace his horror/Western OBLIVION, which has been shelved. The new film is called BLOODLINE, based on a script by Karim (SUBCONSCIOUS CRUELTY) Hussain. ?This was formerly called HAUNTED LIGHT,? Hussain tells Fango. ?I rewrote the screenplay with Nacho recently, and he?ll direct it. We?re really happy with the way the script turned out, and are looking forward to doing a pure, 100 percent horror movie that is primarily about terrorizing the audience, while proposing some different twists on the concept of a ghost story. The script is now much stronger than it ever has been.?
BLOODLINE is about an American film producer who returns to her homeland of Russia to look into her mother?s unusual death. Having been adopted and brought to America as a baby, she knows little of her natural parents, but learns that she has inherited their isolated farm?one that the locals believe is cursed. Once she arrives there, she meets a man who was lured there to uncover his own family secrets, and they begin to experience ghostly visions?of their own dead selves! Production begins later this year.
In other Filmax news, makeup FX artist Vincent (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM) Guastini has been working on the monster dog designs for Brian Yuzna?s next directorial venture, ROTTWEILER, which rolled last week.
