FOCUS FEATURES GOES ROGUE
Focus Features has announced that it has formed a new production/distribution arm, Rogue Pictures, to handle genre movies for wider release than Focus traditional high-toned fare. The first title to go out under the Rogue banner will be SEED OF CHUCKY, which is currently in production in Romania under Don Mancinis direction, to be followed by Jean-Francois Richets remake of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13. That film just added rapper Busta (HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION) Rhymes to the cast headed by Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, Maria Bello and John Leguizamo, and begins shooting April 5 in Toronto for 2005 release. Also in the pipeline is the update of the 1979 ghost story THE CHANGELING; Dave Kajanuk is the scripter of this project. (Another of the studios supernatural thrillers, Pascal Laugiers nearly completed SAINT ANGE, is not mentioned in the release and presumably will remain under the Focus label.) Focus forebear USA Films had also previously produced genre features under the Rogue name; one of those productions was the Fango fan favorite CHERRY FALLS.
