EVIL DEAD & BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA SEQUELS?
So the American Film Market concluded a month or so back. Then, just this past week, the AFM Product Guide issue of Britains Screen International magazine came into Fangoria’s possession (thanks to Fango scribe Matt Kiernan), and way in the back, on a page of last-minute additions that came in too late to be included in the main listings, is an entry that made us do a double take.
The company in question is the Connecticut-based Award Pictures, which has an even dozen projects listed under its banner. Among the lineup are the following two, reprinted here verbatim:
EVIL DEAD IV: CONSEQUENCES: Horror, 136 mins. Prod co: Award Pictures. Prod/scr: Graham MacCrae, Glenn MacCrae. Budget: $71m. Pre-production. Delivery date: 2004. Ash may need a hand fighting deadites, demons, the FBI and reality TV.
MORE BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA: Action/adventure, 127 mins. Prod co: Award Pictures. Prod/scr: Graham MacCrae, Glenn MacCrae. Budget: $75m. In development. Delivery date: 2005. With the mysteries of death revealed, Lo Pan returns and Jack Burton must stop him.
Needless to say, there are a number of things that give pause about these announcements, not the least of which is how movies in preproduction and development can already have set running times. Fangoria called the phone number accompanying the listings, but no one has gotten back to them yet. If we hear any more about these, well be sure to keep you posted.
